Adidas - Call Yourself A Fan?
Sport fans compete to be immortalised in metal.
Every fan of Super 14 rugby has, at one time or another, yearned for a life-size aluminium statue of themselves on public display. But up until now, how could these sporty sculpture-lovers turn their dreams into a corrosion-resistant reality?
Step forward the latest online campaign from adidas, centred around Super 14 (the Tri Nations rugby tournament between Australia, New Zealand and South Africa).
The 'Call Yourself a Fan' campaign by TBWA Tequila in Auckland, New Zealand is calling on rugby supporters to compete for the title of NZ's Greatest Rebel Sport Super 14 Fan. The winning die-hard fan will be die-cast as a full-size aluminium statue to be paraded through their home town before going on display at their team's home ground.
The rugby obsessed can register themselves at www.callyourselfafan.co.nz before drumming up support using a simple online voting system. At the end of the season, five Rebel Sport Super 14 players will select their team's biggest fan. These fans will then go on to compete in a trivia challenge, with the winner taking the coveted title/statue prize.
The campaign is supported on YouTube with videos of Super 14 players being asked rugby trivia to give fans a taste of the competition and directing them to the website.
