Introducing Timeline - A New Kind of Facebook Profile

Douglas Coupland once said "Nolstagia is a weapon"...if he believed that to be true, I wonder what he would have made of Facebook timeline?

The new Facebook Timeline, which will ultimately replace your current profile boats dual columns, maps, check-ins, photos, video, apps, galleries, likes, activity feed and even quick-scroll timeline control. A whole new way to experience your social history, and to present the future.

This is going to shake things up, even if it does feel a bit 'Apple'. But it’s also a pretty big risk, most Facebook users get freaked out by the smallest of changes, so this might take some serious adjusting for some. But at the same time, this will open up a host of new opportunities for advertisers, suddenly there are all sorts of modules that would make for relevant ad integration…

But, what will and won’t show up in our new Timelines? Facebook doesn’t have a great track record on providing “what we want” in our “top stories” content, so it will be interesting to see what changes they make with the algorithm to provide a better experience here.
