Lichtfaktor

Painting with Light...

With night as a backdrop, “Lichtfakor”, an artist collective from Cologne, Germany, set to work. Their creative tools consist of torches, LEDs, glow sticks, reflectors and a camera with an exposure time set to 30 seconds. What emerges is an innovative yet transient artform, using these varied light sources as a means for creative expression.

This art collective consists of artists VJ $ehvermögen (photographer and VJ), Visionlabz (Programmer und VJ) and JIAR (communications designer and graffiti artist), with their stated aim being to “explore all aspects of lightwriting and to develop and extend it further”.

The aesthetic attraction that the resulting images possess is clear to see, capturing the path of the light as it is expertly manoeuvred through the space. Perhaps in the same way that graffiti and spray paint has been a reflection of late 20th century culture, light art seems to be the modern day equivalent, expressive yet ephemeral in nature and with no physical presence, it is an interesting reflection on contemporary culture and technology.

Lichtfaktor is definately not the German equivalent of the X Factor...For more info & images see:
