Museum Of Natural History iPhone App
I know there are a few apps like this out there, but I’m surprised there hasn’t been many more developed around the world? It’s the perfect tour device and with iPhone penetration and the low cost of purchase for say, iPod touches, Museums (and indeed even cities) could easily rent them out for tourists (the History Museum has 350 ready to go).
The Museum of National History’s new iPhone app acts as your personal tour guide, (or you can simply create your own) with detailed information on over 140 displays, hall by hall, with all the exhibits, theaters, restrooms and cafes at your finger tips. All this comes complete with an interactive GPS enabled map to add that extra bit of help!
The app was funded by Bloomberg and runs through a local WiFi connection (although I'm sure a 3G connection would suffice?).
