The Robin Hood Tax
The Robin Hood Tax, a campaign for a tiny tax on financial transactions which could raise hundreds of millions for good causes, has launched a film-making competition targeting directors and ad professionals.
Spearheaded by British film director Richard Curtis and a coalition of 100 NGOs, the Robin Hood Tax is a movement with 170,885 Facebook fans which aims to raise funds to tackle poverty and climate change at home and around the world by taxing banks approximately 0.05% on transactions. Watch the most popular viral so far, starring actor Bill Nighy as an uncomfortable-looking banker for more information.
The contest encourages budding directors and upcoming advertising professionals to shoot a short film in keeping with the existing virals which can be seen on the Robin Hood Tax's website.
The film, which needs to be entered online here by 18 June, needs to be 60 or 90 seconds long and should highlight why the Robin Hood Tax is a good idea. The winner will secure a masterclass with Richard Curtis and their film being hosted on YouTube's homepage.
The judging panel includes Richard Curtis, actress Sienna Miller, John Jackson, VP MTV Networks, David Jones, CEO Euro RSCG & Havas Intl, and Andy Hobsbawm, chairman of Agency.com and founder of Green Thing.
