Rolex Learning Center

Brief

They.Create was commissioned to design and develop a two-tier microsite for the launch of the new Rolex Learning Center in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Designed by acclaimed Japanese architectural practice SANAA (an acronym for its founders ‘Sejima and Nishizawa and Associates’) the Rolex Learning Center is a place to learn, obtain information, and to live. It will become a place where virtual and physical components combine to provide facilitated access to knowledge.

The site was required to be both public facing, as well as a press centre for secure downloading of key information, imagery and documentation.

Outcome

Following our initial consultation we began designing the public front end of the site. Clean lines, tight grids all offset with a restrained and classically Swiss colour palette, made for a stark yet architectural look and feel.

For the press centre, we decided to structure the content in a way similar to that of an image library with light box and shopping basket capabilities.

All press materials were fully categorised, allowing press to add documents, view images in thumbnail or enlargement modes, select preferred file format for individual download or create their own 'Media Packs' by applying light box technology. The finished Media Packs can then be downloaded in one convenient compressed, zipped file for PC or MAC.

The site was built using They.Publish content management software, hosted on They.Host secure server.
